This magnificent 4 CD box set is a comprehensive look into the early days of Jamaican music during the golden period of 1960-1975. Starting with early Ska recordings from 1960 and concluding with Burning Spear’s "Marcus Garvey" from 1975, when Bob Marley was on the brink of superstardom. Grammy award winning music historian Colin Escott’s extensive liner notes and insightful track annotations reveal how the advent of Ska in 1960 was the beginning of a 15 year long golden period of great Jamaican music which reached fans and influenced artists the world over.

This 90-track set includes the top British and Jamaican hits as well as several great rarities. "This Is Reggae Music" features legendary artists such as Bob Marley & The Wailers, Toots & The Maytals, Lee Perry and Jimmy Cliff and Jamaican stars like Ken Boothe, John Holt, Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs, alongside many other lesser-known Jamaican artists who contributed some of the best Jamaican music ever recorded. "This Is Reggae Music" is the only box set that examines in detail the music from Jamaica’s golden period 1960-1975.
